Things Girls Put in Their Purses

Many girls begin to wear purses as they approach adolescence. Some girls choose to wear designer purses, while others buy their purses at a discount store. Purses also come in different sizes. While one purse could be big enough to fit schoolbooks, another purse could fit only a lipstick and a wallet. A purse holds important items that girls use on a daily basis, such as makeup, lotion and a cell phone.

1.   Beauty Products

o        Many girls think it essential to carry beauty products, such as a powder compact, hair brush, nail files, hairspray and lotion in their purses. A powder compact can be helpful if a girl notices her skin getting oily in the middle of the day. If her hair gets tangled from being out in the wind, she can fix it with some hairspray and a brush. Lotion can be useful if her hands get dry.

Wallet

o        A wallet is a safe place to carry a driver's license, credit cards and money. Instead of having these important items cluttered at the bottom of your purse, keep them organized in a wallet. Some wallets also have room for photos, a check book and a calendar to keep track of important dates. Avoid carrying a Social Security card or a passport in case of identity theft.

Electronic Devices

o        Many girls don't leave the house without their cellphones. A cellphone is useful in emergencies and can be helpful for those trying to contact you. Carrying a cellphone in a purse can prevent it from getting lost or damaged. Some girls may also carry an iPod or MP3 player to listen to.

Hygiene Products

o        Hygiene products prepare you for potentially embrassing situations. Keep tampons and panty liners in your purse at all times. You never know when your menstrual period will surprise you, or if another girl needs a tampon. Put a travel-size deodorant in your purse to control sweating throughout the day and hand sanitizer to prevent the spread of germs. Also carry a travel toothbrush in case you forgot to brush your teeth in the morning.

Edible Items

o        Light snacks, such as granola bars or nuts are great to carry in a purse in case you get a little hungry in the middle of the day. Avoid foods that can go bad quickly, such as apples or carrots. Mints and gum are great to carry if you need a quick solution for bad breath during the day.

Miscellaneous Items

o        Condoms and an extra pair of underwear are essential to carry in your purse if your night ends up more spontaneous than you thought. Baby wipes and toys are important to carry if you are a mother of a small child. If you are a business woman, you may carry a newspaper in your purse, so you have something to read on the train, or an extra pair of shoes you can wear downtown. Elderly ladies may carry prescribed medication or a handkerchief in their purses.
